FAQs

Q. Who makes your furniture?
Most of our furniture is made by our craftsmen/craftswomen in our workshop located right next to our showroom in Intercourse, PA. In addition to our own woodshop, we have several local Amish and Mennonite craftsmen who specialize in making a few specific pieces and accessories for us in their own shops.

Q. Is it made right here in Lancaster County?
Yes, most pieces are made in our workshop next to our showroom. Some of our work is done by our craftsmen in their own local shops where they are best set up for bending and turning certain pieces of furniture.

Q. Is the furniture made of solid wood?
Yes. That’s part of what our customers like so much.  It seems that many people have different definitions for “solid wood.”  We use only hardwoods such as oak, cherry, walnut, and tiger maple along with many other specialty woods.  We do not use veneers, plywood, or particle board.  Our standard is, “If you can see it, then it is the designated wood species.”  We do use solid wood (usually poplar) for secondary wood parts such as back, drawer sides and bottoms.

Q. Where do you get the wood?
We live in a region where quality hardwoods are plentiful.  We get our supply through local mills.  The lumber is kiln-dried to proper percentages before being used for our furniture.

Q. What type of finish do you use?
We use the best finish we can find! In the back of our shop we have a finish room where we spray a catalyzed lacquer finish that is very durable and will not "yellow" over time. No maintenance is necessary in order to keep the finish; simply clean with a wet dish towel or dust cloth. Like any finish, be cautious placing direct heat on the furniture.
