This is a customcoffee table made from an oval slab of wormy spalted maple wood. The top is made out of a slab and we kept the edge live to preserve the natural character of the tree. The base has our black-rubbed through finish to accent the lighter maple wood. There are two cracks in the slab so we added a black bow-tie insert to both and filled them with our clear epoxy resin. Bow-ties are traditionally used to keep cracks in wood from further splitting over time.
This is a custom coffee table that we have made in the past but can make a similar piece in the future. Or we can use this piece as a starting point for other custom coffee tables.
